This week, Year 9 Latin students enjoyed a trip to the famous Sycamore Gap tree on Hadrian’s Wall. They walked along the side of the Roman Wall and saw first-hand the northernmost edge of the Roman Empire, while learning some key facts about this world-renowned structure.
After this, the Year 10 Latin group enjoyed a trip to Vindolanda Roman Fort. This is arguably one of the top attractions in the whole Roman Empire, and students enjoyed a guided tour of the site to learn what life was really like for a Roman living there. In addition, students could explore the vast array of objects found at the fort and take the opportunity to inspect a full-size replica of what the fort was like nearly 2,000 years ago.
